DCT started life in 1997, as a communications and technology engineering consulting business run by Matt Kubiczek and Chris Turner. In 1999, the founders realized there was a lack of optimized technology for the rapidly-expanding embedded Java market - and sought VC funding to support the development of a new processor architecture.

Securing first-round funds from MTI in March 2000 - the company grew rapidly, developing an innovative hardware architecture and run-time software environment which is focused entirely on the system requirements of embedded Java. The first product - lightfoot™ - was announced in 2000, and is currently available in IP form.

DCT is currently building an international sales and support infrastructure to support full commercial operations.
